Cosmetic Ingredients
Cosmetics are complex mixtures made of various raw materials that are reasonably formulated and processed. There are many kinds of raw materials for cosmetics with different properties. Cosmetics are chemical mixtures made from various natural, synthetic or extracted substances with different functions as raw materials, and processed through production processes such as heating, stirring and emulsification. According to the raw material properties and uses of cosmetics, they can be roughly divided into two categories:
Matrix raw materials
It is a type of main raw material for cosmetics, accounting for a large proportion in cosmetic formulas, and is a substance that plays a major functional role in cosmetics.
（1）oily raw materials
Grease raw materials such as vegetable oils (such as olive oil, castor oil, almond oil) and animal oils (such as mink oil, lanolin oil). Wax raw materials such as palm wax, jojoba wax, etc.
（2）Powder raw materials
Mainly used in powder cosmetics, such as talcum powder, face powder, powder cake, eye shadow, etc. Powder raw materials include calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, kaolin, talc, etc.
（3）Solvent raw materials
Mainly include water, alcohols, ketones, etc. Solvent raw materials play a role in dissolving other ingredients in liquid and paste cosmetics. Commonly used solvents include deionized water, ethanol (alcohol), glycerin, etc.
Auxiliary raw materials
It plays a role in shaping, stabilizing or imparting color, fragrance and other properties to cosmetics. These substances are not used in large amounts in cosmetic formulas, but are extremely important.
Emulsifier（Gelatin, casein), flavor（chamomile, cherry blossom), colorant (Triphenylmethane, quinoline dye) Preservatives (Salicylic acid, Benzyl alcohol), antioxidants (glutathione, ergothioneine) , humectants(Xylitol, Ceramide, Squalene), surfactants（SLSA,Betaine, fatty acid glyceride）, etc.
